Carbon Footprint
What is the carbon footprint?
The carbon footprint of an organization is the greenhouse gases emitted by direct or indirect effect derived from its business activity. At Poveda Textil we strive year after year to reduce our carbon footprint because we believe that a more sustainable planet is possible. For this reason, we collaborate with the Carbon Footprint Registry promoted by the Government of Spain.
Since 2017 we have the seal granted by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. This seal certifies the calculation, reduction and compensation of the carbon footprint emitted by a company. This calculation is carried out for 3 consecutive years so that said organization can opt for the following two categories: reduction and compensation. In Poveda Textil we have put all our dedication and effort to achieve the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge seal.
Since 2017 we have managed to reduce the carbon footprint emitted by each linear meter of fabric produced by 37.40%. If we also compare the two three-year periods (2017-2019 and 2018-2020), the reduction is 11.54%, going from 0.0719 to 0.0636 t CO2 eq / thousand MLT (linear meter of fabric).
We collaborate with reforestation projects
Poveda Textil has compensated 100% of its carbon footprint since 2020 by collaborating with the Refo-RestaCO2 reforestation project. Thanks to this, we have helped to reforest forests in Burgos, Spain, while obtaining the official seal of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge with the distinctive “Compensation” for the year 2020.
Towards a more sustainable future
From the company we continue working for a better world, focusing on reducing electricity and fuel consumption, with initiatives such as: the change from common lighting to LED lighting, and the renewal of the fleet of vehicles by others that are more efficient producing less polluting energies. All this with the aim of reducing emissions derived from the carbon footprint, and increasingly achieve sustainable development.
